Läti ametiühingute keskliidu LBAS positiivne aktsioonipoliitika
Järgnevas tekstis leiate lõunanaabrite, Läti ametiühingute keskliidu LBAS info nende ettevõtmiste- tegemiste kohta oma liikmete ja kõigi töötajate huvide esindamisel.
Allkirjade kogumine põhiseadusse muudatuste sisseviimiseks on pikem, ligi aasta kestnud aktsioon. LBAS levitav vahekokkuvõte iseloomustab kodanikuinitsiatiivi parimat poolt. Tegemist on näitega, kuidas ametiühingud realiseerivad demokraatliku kodanikuühiskonna võimalusi.
LBAS tegevus on kindlasti positiivseks eeskujuks.
Success of Free Trade Union Confederation of Latvia (LBAS) - more than 200 000 signatures collected
Riga, Latvia, 11 April 2008
Yesterday, 10 April, the collection of signatures to amend the Constitution of the Republic of Latvia initiated by Free Trade Union Confederation of Latvia (LBAS) and organized by Central Elections Committee (CVK) was finished.
According to the provisional data received from the Central Elections Committee more than 213 000 people have signed the petition.
Peteris Krigers, the President of Free Trade Union Confederation of Latvia (LBAS), welcomes the activity of people: “People of Latvia have proved that they are aware of their power. Our people have showed their wish to improve the Constitution of Latvia (Satversme) and now the State President has a unique opportunity to get the amendments through our Parliament without any referendum.” He thanked all citizens who supported trade union idea and signed the petition.
As was reported earlier the amendments provide for the opportunity of electors to dissolve the Parliament of Latvia before the appointed time thus preventing spontaneity of the establishment and situations when the public opinion is openly ignored.
It was necessary to collect at least 149 064 signatures for amendments of the Constitution to be handed in to the Parliament.
The official collection of signatures took place one month – from 12 March to 10 April.
When the correctness of collected signatures will be checked by Central Elections Committee, the amendments to the Constitution will be handed in to the President of Latvia who will railroad a bill through the Parliament. In case the Parliament will not adopt these amendments, a referendum will be organized
